Meet Sabum LUCAS AGUSTIN TURNER

Current rank:

Born & raised:

ITF 4th Dan

Buenos Aires, Argentina

I am currently 28 years old. I started practicing ITF Taekwon-Do at age 7. My parents practiced martial arts, and it intrigued me. At first, I tried other sports until my parents saw me throwing kicks in the backyard. They decided to take me to a Taekwon-Do class at a club five blocks away from my house and I haven't stopped since.

My most memorable martial arts moment is:

Throughout my athletic career, I have been fortunate enough to be an ITF Taekwon-Do National Champion several times and, subsequently, to obtain the titles of ITF South American Champion, ITF Pan American Champion, and ITF World Champion (twice). Recently, I achieved second place at the 2025 ITF World Championships in Croatia with the National Team.

Competitive Highlights:

In 2017, I received the Overall Award (best adult competitor in South America) at the ITF South American tournament in Peru. I represented the Argentine National Team on six occasions. Without a doubt, this is the most important title I have obtained.

The most valuable title I have obtained was in 2018 in Australia. I won Gold and became an ITF World Champion in individual sparring. My journey towards this title has been forged with many sacrifices. I had dedicated 100% of my time and effort to training for this competition. I put my social life aside (partner, friends, a job, studies) and even sold my car to eliminate all distractions.

Currently, I am giving private lessons and focusing on competition. Occasionally, I am invited to teach classes and seminars within my Association and Federation, in addition to my daily physical, technical, and mental training.

What’s next?:

I am heavily focusing my time on training. I plan to compete at the following events: ITF Argentine National championship, the ITF South American, and ITF World Championships, and the ITF World Cup in Benidorm later this year. I am also training with the intention of being selected again to join the National Team that will represent Argentina at the next ITF World Championship in Paraguay in 2027.

My experience working with Mightyfist:

My experience with Mightyfist has always been very pleasant; they have always treated me with great cordiality and kindness.

Words of wisdom from Sabum Lucas Agustín Turner:

The best advice I’ve received by an instructor/coach:

Knowing what I know now, what would I tell my younger self:

“Believe in yourself.” It’s one of the most important things we can do. Gain confidence in ourselves, recognize that we are “enough,” and then give our best effort, whether in competition, teaching, life, etc.”

"Live with persistence as a foundation, never stop trying, and never abandon your dreams, because they are achievable. Surround yourself with people who have positive energy and who share the same goals. Always be grateful for what you have, for having a passion and a purpose. And, above all, to always try to enjoy the process, whether it’s in sports or in my personal life."
