Meet Sabumnim RODRIGO GOZZANO
Current rank: |
Born & raised: |
5th Dan ITF | Vicente López, Buenos Aires, Argentina |
I started my martial arts journey when I was 7 years old. I loved watching martial arts movies and wanted to copy the techniques performed by actors like Jean-Claude Van Damme. I also enjoyed watching the animated series Dragon Ball Z.
My most memorable martial arts moment of my career would be competing in the 2024 Argentina World Cup. I was able to be there as both a competitor and a coach for my students. The challenge itself made it unforgettable. It was incredible to see my students make their debut in such a high-level tournament, and personally, I achieved great results as well:
GOLD medal in individual sparring, pre-arranged sparring, and team patterns.
SILVER medal in individual patterns (IV - VI DAN).
These titles are adding to the list of many achievements I have won over the years, now adding up to 25 titles:
3x ITF World Champion
5x ITF World Cup Champion
9x ITF South American Champion
4x ITF Pan American Champion
4x ITF European Cup Champion (overall Best Male Adult Competitor - Bulgaria 2022)
For the past 10 years, I have been a member of the Argentine National Team as a competitor. I am also the Director and Head Instructor of Academia Libra de Taekwondo ITF, where I train over 200 students. Additionally, I continue my training under Master Eduardo Barile, Director of ABATI (Buenos Aires Association of Taekwon-Do ITF). Whenever my schedule allows, I also teach seminars. My aim is to travel and teach seminars worldwide.
My goal is to do my best and enjoy every moment in my upcoming competitions:
Pan American Championship - Chile
Sardinia Open - Italy
WAKO World Cup - Hungary
ITF World Championships - Croatia
I believe that emotional balance was the most important tool that Taekwon-Do provided me. It played a key role in helping me overcome my life story, which in turn allowed me to achieve significant personal growth. That's where the name of my academy "LIBRA" comes from - like the zodiac sign.
The best advice I’ve received by an instructor/coach: |
Knowing what I know now, what would I tell my younger self: |
"When my Master told me that I was ready to teach, that I had the skills to do it, and that I should go for it. Today, teaching is one of the things I enjoy the most in my life." | "You're doing great, you're on the right path. Enjoy every stage of the journey, and remember—rest is part of training." |
