Meet Sabum SILVIA FARIGU

Current rank:

Born & raised:

ITF 6th Dan

Sardinia Island, Italy

I started when I was 8 years old. It happened by chance; I used to play on a basketball team and I really loved sports, especially playing football with my friends. Then , there was a Taekwon-Do school very close to my house, so my mother took my brother and me there to try it out. One lesson was enough to capture me.

I'm truly grateful for all the moments I've experienced: training sessions, travel, competitions, exams, seminars, but also injuries, recovery sessions, and so much more. First and foremost, as a student, but also as an athlete, teacher, and coach. It's incredible; I never would have imagined so much. It's truly very difficult to choose only one moment.

My most memorable martial arts moment was:

My first trip outside of Italy: the 2002 ITF World Junior Championships in Argentina. A memorable journey, a sea of emotions. I also won a silver and a bronze medal, and then I was hungry to improve, gain new experiences, and win.

Competitive Highlights:

5x gold - ITF World Cup Champion
2x silver – ITF World Cup Champion
1x bronze – ITF World Cup Champion
11x gold ITF World Champion (7 x pattern, 3 x sparring, 1 x traditional sparring)
4x silver – ITF World Championships
4x bronze – ITF World Championships
1x Overall competitor – ITF World Championships
25x gold ITF European Champion (11x pattern, 6x sparring, 4x traditional sparring, 2 x special techniques, 2x team pattern)
4x silver - ITF European Championships
1x bronze - ITF European Championships
5x overall competitor - ITF European championships

Kick boxing WAKO – light contact
European Champion
World Cup Champion
 Multiple national Champion
 Bronze Medal World Championship

I began my teaching journey in 2006 and currently manage the TkdSardegna – Farigu-Oriolani Team alongside my husband, Master Christian Oriolani. In addition to my club work, I serve on the National Technical Committee of FITAE-Italy.

My passion for Taekwon-Do keeps me moving; I travel globally to conduct international seminars and teach students and competitors worldwide through my online programs. After competing in the most recent ITF World Championships, I am already back in training and planning my return to the ring for upcoming competitions.

Beyond the ring, I am the proud mother of Lara Helena and Nael; they are my greatest inspiration. While pregnancy and motherhood changed my life, they never slowed me down. I’ve been able to continue training, traveling, and competing at the highest level.

Sharing this journey with them makes every achievement truly special. I am incredibly grateful to have them by my side.

What’s next?:

My journey continues with a full schedule. We have many exciting events planned here in Sardinia, followed by a series of national and international seminars and events.

Looking ahead, if my training and preparation stay on track, I am setting my sights on the ITF World Cup in Spain this year. My goal is to be there not only as a coach guiding my team but also as a competitor.

My experience working with Mightyfist:

I am so excited to work with Mightyfist. They are incredibly professional and truly care about people and values. This is very important to me.

Words of wisdom from Sabum Silvia Farigu:

The best advice I’ve received by an instructor/coach:

Knowing what I know now, what would I tell my younger self:

"True 'Do' (the way of life) means your feelings, thoughts, and life are all moving in the same direction. It's not over until it's over."

"Be grateful and enjoy every moment. It is not just about the result, but mostly about the process."
