When we talk about Taekwon-Do, the common people relate it to combat, with personal defense, in a few words, with violence. Precisely, the title of this preface: "Under the magnifying glass of Taekwon-Do" means the opposite. At the beginning of General Choi Hong Hi's encyclopedia, some of the first topics he discusses are the doctrines of Taekwon-Do, its explanation, the philosophy of Taekwon-Do, the advantages of Taekwon-Do and moral culture. In a very simple way I want to explain how Taekwon-Do affects, in the good sense of the word, our daily life.

For Example, when I teach a student the doctrines of Taekwon-Do and start by mentioning Courtesy, my intention is for the student to learn to be courteous, respectful towards me, towards their peers, towards their parents, in short, let it be respectful in every area that moves. This is how Taekwon-Do moves from Do Jang to everyday life and becomes a kind of filter for our thoughts and actions.

Second, when I speak of Integrity, my intention is to be able to differentiate between right and wrong, inside and outside of the Taekwon-Do class. When talking about Perseverance, I talk about being preserverant to develop the techniques of Taekwon-Do at its best level, transferring it to everything you do and do in our life, in an exam, in a job, in order to persevere inside and outside the Do Jang, as I mentioned earlier.

Under the magnifying glass of Taekwon-Do means that its practice goes far beyond the personal defense system that encompasses martial arts, it means that it will improve our quality of life, it will always keep us with clear and positive thoughts and also, that thanks to those attitudes, together we can create a better world.
